17th-Aug-2010 11:23 pm - Broken rosary
Several months ago I made prayer bead necklace, or Pagan rosary for myself. I wear it almost every day, and pray on it, meditate with it, and use it for quick little mental spells frequently - such as sending good fortune to someone or wishing for protection. This morning while having breakfast in the dining room of a hotel I'm staying at, I briefly touched it to check if the clasp was showing in the front and it snapped. The beads flew everywhere so I had to crawl under the table to try to retrieve them all. I think that I saved most, if not all, of them.

It was unsettling since I consider it my strongest and favorite magical tool, so I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on if there is a special meaning behind a broken rosary. Do you think it's an omen? A message? What kind? Or was it just a freak accident?

The strange thing about it breaking now is that I recently had a conversation with someone about necklaces breaking, another conversation about prayer beads in general, and several people have made a point of commenting on my necklace during the past week or two. So it kind of had all this coincidental attention focused on it before deciding to snap.

I am considering restringing it, or possibly incorporating its beads into a new rosary. However, I read on several forums that the breaking of a Catholic rosary might symbolize that someone is sending you negative thoughts or energy and that it should be ritually disposed of. That got me thinking, so I want to consult my fellow Wiccans before reusing the beads.

Feel free to share any of your thoughts!

23rd-Jul-2010 05:49 pm - Incense question
I hope no one minds me asking this, I figured a good place to ask this would be in a Pagan/Wiccan community since quite often practitioners burn incense.

I purchased charcoal tablets and have some powder incense and I have a base on which to burn the charcoal/incense. What's the best way to go about burning it?
I know how to light everything and I know how to burn the incense, etc. but it seems to burn awfully fast.
How do you burn incense powder slowly on a charcoal tablet? Any suggestions? Tips?

I'm looking for good information on spirit/totem/power animals (is there a difference??) Good web sources are preferred but book is OK too. Geared toward a leopard or snow leopard would be helpful too. I've googled but mostly I get things that have different info on some pages or buy this and that type stuff. I'm not sure if any of the pages are good sources. As for books no dictionary type. I see someone in the past has recommended Animal Speak but is there other information that's not dictionary?

Also is there an Egyptian or a mountain god/dess that have some connection to leopards? I read somewhere that Egyptians considered it good luck if a leopard crosses your path but the listings I find mention lions.

Lastly good info on worship of Osiris.

Thanks and sorry for all the noob sounding questions. I've never included animals or the Egyptian pantheon in my practice.

Yay discussion!

I'm directing this question to people who worship a goddess who is nameless, or who worship an over-arching female deity, or Great Goddess etc rather than a specific named deity from a particular pantheon.

What words do you associate with your goddess?

I mention it because an exercise in a book I'm reading is to list words that you associate with "the goddess" and mine were quite different from the ones the authors came up with, so I'm interested in the words other people came up with.

23rd-May-2010 09:45 am - Magazines?
I thought this might be a good place to ask this question.

Do any of you know of any good Pagan/Wiccan magazines out there? I've been hunting around to try and find one, there are many lists out there of magazines but I just don't want to subscribe to one unless I know it's actually a decent read.

17th-May-2010 05:20 am - Suggestions please?
So... lately I've been feeling a little empty in my spiritual side. I've just finished semester at college so my life is a little less busy...

And I've realized it's because I miss being able to see what most others cannot. I know that the sight fades a little with age sometimes but I wanted to know anyone's opinions to maybe strengthen someone's sight.

16th-May-2010 10:10 pm - a question about dreams
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question, so feel free to lemme know if it's not. :]

I met someone a while ago (nothing special, just someone new) and they are consistently showing up in my dreams. They don't have an important role, and the dreams aren't all that great. For example, my last dream I was at a restaurant with some friends, and this person meets up with us. It normally wouldn't bother me, but It's the SAME person, appearing in these realistic dreams that might as well just be parts of my day-to-day life.
Any ideas as to what this all means?

**also, I have a tendency to dream about things before they happen, I'm not sure if that's significant at alllll, but you never know. :S
